Canon has introduced two new cameras, the PowerShot V1 and EOS R50 V, expanding its EOS/PowerShot V Series to cater to video creators across various domains, including cinema, livestreaming, vlogging, and VR. These cameras are designed to enhance creative storytelling while maintaining high-quality imaging and user-friendly functionality.
PowerShot V1: A Modern Point-and-Shoot Camera
The PowerShot V1 is a lightweight and compact camera that prioritizes ease of use and high-quality visuals. Key features include:
- A redesigned grip for both standard and selfie shooting.
- An ultra-wide-angle zoom lens (17-52mm for video, 16-50mm/F2.8-4.5 for stills).
- A 1.4-type sensor with approximately 22.3 megapixels.
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for improved autofocus and subject tracking.
- An internal cooling fan for extended video recording.
- A still/video switch for quick transitions, a first for PowerShot cameras.
- High-speed shooting at up to 30 frames per second, with shutter speeds up to 1/16,000 seconds.
Additionally, the PowerShot V1 is optimized for workflows, offering seamless USB connectivity for high-quality video calls and wireless integration with smartphones via the Canon Camera Connect app.
EOS R50 V: Compact Cinema-Quality Camera
The EOS R50 V is a video-focused camera incorporating elements from Canon’s Cinema EOS line. Key features include:
- A dedicated livestream button, a front movie recording button, and a tripod mount for vertical shooting.
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for smooth autofocus performance.
- 4K crop recording at 60fps with YCC 422 10-bit color.
- Compatibility with the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens, featuring built-in power zoom.
- Multiple livestreaming methods, including UVC/UAC, HDMI, and Canon’s Camera Connect.
- An APS-C sensor and DIGIC X processor for enhanced bokeh and image quality.
- Cinema EOS-inspired presets, including Canon Log 3 for advanced editing.
Designed with input from creators, the EOS R50 V aims to simplify content production with customization options and a user-friendly design.

Both cameras are set to launch in April 2025. The PowerShot V1 is priced at $899.99, while the EOS R50 V will retail at $649.99 (body only) or $849.99 with the RF-S14-30mm lens.
