Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch a new high-end smartphone in 2025, which could become the brand’s first device equipped with 20 GB of RAM. According to a leak from tech tipster DigitalChatStation, this upcoming handset would mark a significant milestone in Huawei’s mobile lineup by offering an unprecedented amount of memory for the company.
The device is expected to be part of a second flagship series scheduled for release later in the year. While the official name has not been confirmed, speculation points toward it being the Huawei Mate 80, currently believed to be under development. If accurate, this model could be unveiled by the end of 2025.
The increase in RAM is likely aimed at enhancing the multitasking capabilities of the phone. Higher RAM allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously with greater fluidity, enabling smoother performance and improved background task management. This upgrade is intended to deliver a more seamless user experience, particularly for power users who rely on intensive apps or frequent app switching.
In addition to the expanded memory, the upcoming Huawei smartphone is rumored to feature other advanced hardware specifications. These may include a new-generation chip with improved internal architecture, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor positioned on the side of the device, a built-in cooling system (cooler) to manage heat during heavy usage, and IP68 certification, which provides resistance against dust and water.
Despite the potential leap in Huawei’s hardware capabilities, the 20 GB RAM figure would still place the device behind some competitors in the market. For instance, the OnePlus 13, launched in October 2024, already boasts 24 GB of RAM, making it one of the current leaders in smartphone memory capacity.
In summary, Huawei’s rumored 2025 flagship smartphone, possibly the Mate 80, may introduce the brand’s first 20 GB RAM device, reinforcing its efforts to stay competitive in the premium segment. With enhanced multitasking support and high-end specifications like water resistance and advanced biometric security, the phone could appeal to users seeking both performance and durability. However, it may still trail behind select rivals in sheer technical specs, underscoring the rapidly evolving landscape of mobile hardware innovation.
