Samsung has officially launched the Exynos 2500, its latest mobile processor built on a 3-nanometer process, offering significant advancements in performance, efficiency, and connectivity. Expected to debut with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, this new chipset stands out with a 10-core CPU, improved GPU, AI processing enhancements, and support for satellite communication.
The Exynos 2500 features the following CPU configuration:
- 1x Cortex-X5 core at 3.3 GHz
- 2x Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74 GHz
- 5x Cortex-A720 cores at 2.36 GHz
- 2x Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8 GHz
The graphics unit is the XClipse 950 GPU, built on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture, enabling hardware-accelerated ray tracing for enhanced gaming visuals. According to Samsung, the Exynos 2500 provides a 15% improvement in multi-core CPU performance, a 39% faster NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for AI tasks, and a 28% higher frame rate for games with ray tracing compared to its predecessor.
The chipset supports modern memory and storage standards, including LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The Image Signal Processor (ISP) can handle camera resolutions up to 320 MP and record 8K video at 30 frames per second. For display capabilities, it supports resolutions up to 4K/WQUXGA at 120 Hz.
On the connectivity front, the Exynos 2500 includes the Exynos 5400 5G modem, which allows download speeds up to 12.1 Gbps. A key new feature is the direct satellite communication support for emergency text messaging, addressing use cases in remote areas without mobile coverage.
Additionally, the chipset supports the latest wireless standards, such as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GNSS, NFC, and USB-C 3.2.
Overall, the Exynos 2500 represents a substantial upgrade over the Exynos 2400, particularly in terms of AI processing power, gaming capabilities, and connectivity innovations. The inclusion of satellite messaging brings the Exynos series in line with emerging trends in mobile safety and emergency communication, making it a competitive option for high-end smartphones.
